Documents Required for applying for the UK visa
Here is the checklist and information about the documents needed for applying for a student visa.
- A valid passport
- Acceptance or offer letter from the university
- Proof of fund
- ATAS certificate ( based on course requirement)
- Age-proof of certificate
- Medical proofs
Passport: The student must submit a valid passport. If applying in person at the UK embassy, a hard copy of the passport is required. For online applications, a properly scanned copy of the first and last pages of the passport must be submitted.
Acceptance Letter: This letter, issued by the university upon meeting all admission requirements, confirms the course and university for which the student is applying. It serves as proof for the student visa and includes details such as the duration of work permit hours, which depend on the course and term schedule.
Proof of Funds: Financial documents must demonstrate that the student’s family or sponsor has sufficient funds to cover education, living expenses, and emergencies during their stay in the UK. Accepted documents include attested bank statements, proof of educational loans, fixed deposits, savings, property or gold valuation documents, and income or business tax papers.
ATAS Certificate: The Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate is required for certain courses. Students should verify on the university portal whether their chosen course requires this certificate before applying.
Age Proof: For master’s programs, students must provide proof that they are over 16 years old. Those under 16 applying for undergraduate programs must also submit age proof and can bring one parent as a dependent.
Medical Proof: Medical certificates must be signed by an approved doctor in the student’s home country. Students must provide a tuberculosis-free certificate with test results from a recognized diagnostic center.
